- Description
The S-Works Tarmac SL8 frameset is unbeatably fast. Its advanced aerodynamics and low weight create a riding quality that was previously unreachable. After eight generations and over twenty years of development, it's not just the fastest Tarmac ever—it's the fastest racing bike in the world. Are you ready?
Aerodynamics and low weight alone don't win races—speed matters at the finish line. Achieving race speed requires a precise balance of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness, and compliance. Our Ride Science Team found through race simulations using real data that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest racing bike ever built on crucial routes. It's 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km, 128 seconds quicker at Milano-Sanremo, and 20 seconds swifter up the Tourmalet.
AERO AVANT-GARDE: For us, aero is about surfaces that truly count, not just what looks best. With this philosophy, we've created our most aerodynamic racing bike ever. And yes, it's more aerodynamic than the Venge. The newly designed head tube of the Tarmac SL8 maintains airflow better, with a sharper leading edge at the front surface. We call it the Speed Sniffer, and with it, the streamlined profile of the head tube generates much less air resistance. Furthermore, in compliance with the new UCI rules, we've developed the narrowest and most aerodynamic Specialized seatpost ever for the Tarmac SL8. This allows turbulent air moving swiftly around the legs to flow more cleanly. A bike with a sense of victory.
MINIMAL WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERO: The Tarmac SL8 incorporates insights from the Aethos development and easily meets the UCI weight limit, all while maintaining a complete aero setup. Our team has crafted an incredible frame weighing 685 grams—15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bikes on the World Tour. Even though Kasper Asgreen rode our Aethos with a frame weighing only 585 grams on a Tour Stage, that somehow doesn't count. New technical possibilities enabled us to optimize the weight distribution of the down tube, seat tube, and rear, eliminating the need for additional carbon layers for increased stiffness.
LIGHTNING-FAST ACCELERATION WITH ADDED COMFORT: Thanks to a significant improvement in the stiffness-to-weight ratio—33% better than the SL7—the Tarmac SL8 elevates legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Tour-tested geometry to new heights. The bike is stiffer at the bottom bracket, more precise at the handlebars, and more compliant in the saddle, setting new standards for performance and comfort in competitive cycling. Our Rider-First Engineering™ concept ensures that every rider, regardless of size, enjoys the same ride quality and handling. At the saddle, the Tarmac SL8 offers 6% more compliance, gliding smoothly over rough roads—a unique advantage in the tension-filled world of road racing. And when conditions demand it, the 32 mm tire clearance allows for tires with more volume.
GENDER-NEUTRAL: Our experience in product development tells us that there can be more differences between two riders of the same gender than between riders of different genders. Gender alone does not justify gender-specific geometries. Frames specifically for men or women are therefore unfounded and outdated. With a Tarmac SL8 for everyone, every rider can gain the decisive advantage.
With its 68 mm wide threaded bottom bracket, flat-mount disc brakes, and seamless integration, the S-Works Tarmac SL8 frameset is exactly what you need for your dream build.
